The Cotton Candy Seller

Riomaggiore 1976

I took this photo  around 40 years ago in the streets of Riomaggiore one of the five fishing villages called “Cinque Terre”, Unesco World Heritage site since 1997. It was when walking through those steeply terraced cliffs with a breathtaking coastal scenery that I decided I wanted to move to Liguria and live all my life  among olive trees, looking at the sea and painting. I have realised part of this dream. I live among olive trees, I have got a nice view over the harbour and I do paint,  not in Cinque Terre but on the hills of Savona, less romantic but much more convenient…

I’m now working on a painting portraing this scene
